The New 42nd Street Studios building is a state-of-the-art, 10-story rehearsal studio/office/theater complex comprised of the New 42nd Street Studios and The Duke on 42nd Street theater. Considered the premier rehearsal space in all of New York City, the New 42nd Street Studios serves a vast and diverse group of nonprofit dance, theater, music and opera groups, as well as commercial musicals, plays, workshops and readings.
Since its opening in 2000…
- Over 1,000 nonprofit dance, theater and music companies have rehearsed here
- 700 Broadway and Off-Broadway shows have started their journeys in the Studios
- And almost 200 companies have performed on stage at The Duke on 42nd Street
The main administrative offices of The New 42nd Street and the Education office of The New Victory Theater are located in the New 42nd Street Studio building, as well as the offices of Buglisi Dance Theatre, Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, Parsons Dance Company and Williamstown Theatre Festival.
For those who rehearse and work here, stepping through the doors on the New 42nd Street Studios means stepping into an ecosystem designed for and devoted to performing artists and the spells they cast. This video look inside the artistry was developed with generous support from Diane and Mark Spilker.
